The year marks the 25th anniversary of the Redmond Cup, which is a big milestone considering the long history and prestige behind the tournament. The Redmond Cup is the longest-running Youth tournament in North America, and is the premier tournament for the strongest youth players across the continent. Many former Redmond Cup champions have gone on to become majors stars of the US Go scene, including four of the five current North American Professionals. Other champions and competitors have gone on to represent North America in international tournaments and/or become Go organizers in their communities.
