Hey, my credit card just got a charge from “Go Congress 2013.” Is that correct?

Good question! We pass the merchant account down from year to year to reduce costs and save you money. You can log into your Congress account at anytime to see your current balance. If you have made a payment and it does not show up in your account, please let the Registrar know. We will then check to see that the merchant account and the Congress sites are in sync.

How do I check in to my room if I am arriving on Friday?

Those arriving on Friday before 10 pm should go to the Sadler Center Help desk on the ground floor and identify that you want early check in to your room for the US Go Congress. After 10 pm, since Sadler Center is closed, you will need to call the school’s after hours housing desk at 757-221-4084.

How do I make a change to my reservation?

We know that we have given you many choices and that you might have just found out your best bud who you want to room with selected an incompatible room choice. Fear not, this is not Go where a stone placed is a stoned played! Just “sign in” to your account and click on Attendee name. This will open your registration form. Review your selections and make any needed changes. Our Refund Policy spells out how we will handle refunds, but we are not going to punish mis-clicks! Just drop the registrar a note if you have a question.

I do not have a credit card. How can I make a payment on my Congress account?

While credit card is preferred as it is the only method that automatically records payment on your Congress account, we do accept PayPal, personal check, and colonial script.

Okay, we were kidding about colonial script, no body accepts that!

For details about paying by PayPal or personnel check, please contact the Registrar. We are not publishing these details as we want to track these payments as they will have to be manually updated into your Congress account.

If I am arriving on Friday, are dorm rooms available?

We have added a section to the registration to allow you to register for a Friday night room. Please select the same type of room as you selected for the week. You can add optional extra night after you have settled your travel plans.

What if I just want lunch as meal plan?

You asked and we responded with a new “Lunch Only” option under meals! Please read the post on making changes to your account, if you have already registered with a different plan. Meal plans save you money over the daily price (10% for breakfast or lunch only, 15% for breakfast and lunch, and 20% for breakfast, lunch, and dinner). If you want more flexibility, you can always pay for meals from the school one at a time.

What is the refund / cancellation policy?

We offer full refunds, minus a $25 cancellation fee to cover the cost of credit card charges and administration, through June 30th, 2018.

One can switch Congress registration credits to another person for a $5 administrative fee.

What is this Non-participant registration fee about?

Anyone who uses Congress plans for rooms, meals, or discounts has to be registered at Congress. We recognize that there may be family members that will not be interested in participating in Go events, like tournaments and lectures from Professional Go Teachers. For these we have the much reduced registration fee of Non-Participant for $75 for the week. Non-Participants also get t-shirt and other congress gifts. The guardian of under age youth participants must be registered at congress.

What other hotels / lodging options are available in the area?

Our official lodging is in the dorms of William & Mary, and we’re very pleased to be able to offer such affordable accommodations so close to our main venue.

But sometimes you might need other options! Here’s a list of area hotels:

You can also find many good options via Airbnb.

Which W&M dorms are being used by congress?

The dorms W&M has assigned us are:

  • Jefferson Hall – hall bath
  • Lemon Hall – suite bath
  • Richmond Hall – private bath
  • Ludwell – apartment with private bath and kitchen
  • Nicholas Hall – suite bath
  • Reves Hall – hall bath

Please do not get your tricorner hats a tilt, but these could change and your reservation is for a room type not a specific dorm name. We of course will do what we can to meet requests in your request field on your registration form.

We also have rooms which meet American Disabilities Access reqirements in Lemon Hall, just let the registrar know of any special needs.

Finally, W&M has web-pages for each dorm, just follow links starting with: https://www.wm.edu/offices/residencelife/atoz/index.php

Why did I get an error about Legacy Banquet?

This problem only affects you if you signed up for banquet early. Shortly after we opened registration we realized we had the wrong price for the banquet. The system will not let us change prices (guess we will never be able to run an airline as part of Congress). All we can do is make a new selection and lock the old one out. The lock means that you cannot change that section of the registration if you have Legacy Banquet. That would not be so bad, but if you make any other changes it throws them all away.

If you get the Legacy Banquet error, just click on My Account, select your Attendee record again, make any needed changes, being sure not to touch banquet section, and then hit continue.

If you want to delete the cheaper, but just as good, banquet. Please contact the Registrar.
