SEAFAIR Hydroplane Races August 2-4, 2013 The unlimited hydroplane races on Lake Washington are among the most thrilling of Seattle’s summer events. Held near the Stan Sayres Memorial Park on the south west shore of Lake Washington in the Seward Park neighborhood of Seattle, the racing and associated events cover three days. Park guests can take advantage of food and beverages booths, general admission seating, a pit tour, a hospitality area, and the log boom for boaters. The unlimited hydroplane ships have evolved enormously from the Allison Engine powered Slo MO-Shun series of the early 50s, to the great turbine engined greats like the Atlas Van Lines, the Miss Madison, and the Miss Budweiser. Come to watch these great ships raise their rooster tails while speeding toward the gang-start starting line at nearly 200 mph. If you finish your US Open game on time, there will still be enough time for you to make the crack of the starting pistol for heat 1A. Racing continues for the rest of the afternoon of Sunday, August 3rd.
