Titlow Park is a large grassy flat park located near a lagoon and Puget Sound at the base of 6th Avenue. Come experience the total makeover this rare waterfront park has undergone! Tour the century-old Titlow Lodge and learn about its history. Take a guided nature walk along the lagoon, shoreline or woodlands. Splash in the new sprayground. Pack a picnic and stay for the day! Park improvements include invigorating new walking trails, new sprayground and an expanded community garden. The 75 acre Titlow Park is one of five Signature Parks within Metro Parks Tacoma’s system. It is characterized as providing a focus on the marine environment and shoreline habitat. The park is popular for bird watchers (Barred Owl image at right by Connie Hardy), walkers, picknickers, summer camp goers, scuba divers and other recreational users. The extensive beach frontage and estuary lagoon serve as the focal point to park visitors. Other site amenities include tennis and basketball courts, playfields, trails, playgrounds and picnic areas. The historic Titlow Lodge, formerly the Hotel Hesperides, constructed in 1911 is a central feature of the park.
